Now for some highly obscure movie trivia in the very very small category of references to Roman Porno movies inside other Roman Porno movies. It doesn't happen frequently but every once in a while you can spot a poster or a flyer from a previously made Roman Porno film, sort of like a pink film easter egg. Some of these posters appear in their natural habitat, like in front of or inside a movie theater. Other times it can be a poster tacked up on a wall or a door. Some of these are rather blatantly filmed while others are just part of the background scenery. Whether this was done as a little bit of extra studio self promotion or as an inside joke by the director I’ll never know. Here are a few examples that I have run across so far.
牝猫たちの夜 (Night of the Felines) 1972
The first picture shows the front of a theater that our characters will soon enter. You can see standard posters and STB posters along with movie stills on the sidewalk billboard and on the building.

The second picture shows the inside of the lobby. The STB poster in the middle of the display is an additional movie. This is an obvious bit of self promotion as they are showing one of their own theaters with a slate of movies that were playing during the filming. The middle film is:

One of the actors takes a stroll in front of a display of posters. This theater must have been a popular filming location because it is the same one used in the first example. All the posters were released in December of 1972. The films from left to right are:

A part timer worker walks a bicycle past the front of a small town theater where he delivers cans of films. The five screenshots are from one tracking shot as he walks past eleven posters. The theater location looks like a real one but I get the feeling that the director decorated the front with a random selection of posters. Their release dates are all over the place. The movie he watches looks like a foreign film but is actually one of Nikkatsu’s early movies
filmed in Sweden. The first shot shows the backside of a B5 flyer pasted to the window.
The second shot shows a scene from that movie intercut into the narrative.

One of the male characters is about to run out of this theater which has a poster tacked to the front door. All the other posters in the front of the theater are from different studios so I wonder if the director just placed the Nikkatsu poster here just for this scene. It is the one on the left with the red background.

This scene is inside a theater where a foreign import is being shown and a Nikkatsu
poster has been placed in the lower left hand corner in front of the screen.
